On 6 November, in the presence of the President of the Madrid region and the Madrid Major, the Plaza de Castilla intermodal transportation hub Phase II was opened. The facility was commissioned on 1 October.

The public works and public service management concession contract for the Plaza de Castilla intermodal transportation hub was awarded by the Regional Transport Consortium and the concession is for 33 years, beginning when the interchanger came into operation in February 2008. The interchanger has an area of 59,650m2, including 29 bus platforms and 400 parking spaces. It serves 40 intercity bus routes, 3 underground railway lines and 19 urban bus routes (EMT).
